The boys cross country team took third place at the SPC Championships with their performance on Oct. 16. The meet took place at Channahon Community Park.

“The guys ran very well,” head coach Kevin Gummerson said. “This was the first meet of the championship phase, and it is clear to me that this team is headed in the right direction.”

The team ended up with a final score of 59 points, earning them third behind winner Yorkville and runner-up Oswego.

Vincent Van Eck and Daniel Schalk led the way being the team’s top runners.

“There is no doubt in my mind that they went for it,” Gummerson said.

Both Van Eck and Schalk earned all-conference honors. Van Eck was third, while Schalk was eighth.
