Senior Luke Petrovic had another strong meet, shooting in the high 30s for Minooka’s golf team on Sept. 23 against Plainfield East. Minooka as a team came out with the win as well.

Unfortunately, our other players really struggled that night, and we felt fortunate to not play well, but still leave with a victory,” head coach Brian Petrovic said.

Minooka as a team won with a score of 172-179 against Plainfield East. Minooka has shot much lower scores throughout the season and plans to get back on track for the next couple meets.

Minooka had two players who shot in the 30s and 40s in this meet. Petrovic shot a 38 at this meet. Dallas Revis had the second-lowest score for with a 43.

Coach Petrovic addressed struggles that some of the boys had in the meet.

“They need to make good decisions on the course and focus for all five hours of their round.  Every shot counts, from the first one to the last,” coach Petrovic said.

The meet was scheduled for the Wedgewood course in Plainfield. The night before it was changed and was played at Heritage Bluffs golf course in Channahon.

“We did well, Plainfield East has a very good golf team and they really showed up to play. It was a close match, but we ended up winning,” freshman Carter Stevenson said.

Stevenson is one of the freshmen who got pulled up to play on the varsity team.

It is coming to the end of the season for the boys.

Luke Petrovic is in contention to win SPC player of the year for the second time in a row. Senior Kevin Phillips is looking for his fourth all-conference selection.

Minooka is playing in the SPC conference meet today, Sept. 29, at Whitetail Ridge Golf Club in Yorkville.
