The Minooka girls varsity volleyball team had one of the top seasons in Minooka history.

They finished with an overall record of 32-8 and tied for first in conference with Plainfield North with a record of 10-1.

There were tons of ups and downs throughout the whole season.

“We started peaking at the right part of the season and being one of only four teams to make it to the Elite 8 in MCHS volleyball history, I am beyond proud of these girls for that accomplishment,” head coach Carrie Prosek said.

One big game the girls had this year was their sectional championship game against Althoff Catholic. It was a hard battle for the girls after their four-hour bus ride to O’Fallon, but the girls pulled through and won in two sets.

“Riding on the charter bus to O’Fallon was such a great time and I think that it really boosted our confidence for that game,” senior Desiree Anderson said.

The girls played hard this whole season and really showed that they wanted to do big things.

“I think we definitely shocked many people because no one thought we could go that far. The way we came together and played in the post season was amazing,” senior Zoey Seput said.

With most of the girls on the team going off to college and living the rest of their lives, they built a bond that will never be broken between all of them.

“I think by the end of the season we were really like a mini family,” junior Heidi Bonde said.
