Already with one win in the books, the varsity golf team is looking forward to another great year.

Last year, the team compiled a 10-1 record  (9-1 in the SPC).

There are three returning all-conference players in senior Matthew Sitar, and juniors Luke Petrovic and Kevin Phillips. Both Sitar and Luke Petrovic advanced to sectionals last year.

“He is a very patient golfer,” junior Aidan Stehlik said about Luke Petrovic.

The team has no plans for any big changes this year.

“We will keep making minor adjustments here and there to their individual games, but decision-making is one aspect we talk about a lot,” head coach Brian Petrovic said.

The Indians have a good chance to do big things this year.

“Honestly we are a team that controls our own destiny in the fact we have the players, the talent, and the mindset to do extremely well this season,” coach Petrovic said.

The Indians beat new conference opponent Yorkville in their first contest of the year on Aug. 22. The score was 164-175. The top players for the match were Luke Petrovic (38), Phillips (40), Sitar (42), and Nathan Sachtleben (44).
