The year for the Minooka girls basketball team ended short in the postseason, but this did not take away from their record-setting regular season.  Here are their Top 5 games of the year.

No. 5

The Indians’ first game of the year against Cicero Morton on Nov. 18 made the list simply because of how impressive it was from Minooka’s point of view.  The Indians held Cicero Morton to 5 points or less in each quarter while scoring 18 or more in the first three quarters. With this game being the first of the season only makes it more remarkable.  The final score of the game was a 65-13 win for Minooka.

No. 4

Another great game was against the Joliet Central on Jan. 11 at Minooka.  Minooka started the game superbly, scoring 18 points in the first quarter.  Following their impressive first quarter, Minooka allowed the Steelmen back into the game with the Indians only scoring 4 points in the second.  The remainder of the game was in the Indians’ control however and the final score turned out to be 50-45 in favor of the Indians.

No. 3

The third best game of the girls season was their game at Bradley-Bourbonnais vs. the Rockford Auburn Boilermakers in the Bradley-Bourbonnais Holiday Classic.  The first half was owned by the Boilermakers, holding the Indians to only six points in the second quarter. The Indians came back with a strong second half just edging out Rockford and winning 52-51.

No. 2

Coming in second an another overtime win against Bradley-Bourbonnais on Dec. 22.  This game was led by the Indians until the final quarter where Minooka was outscored 20-9.  Again though, Minooka came through in the overtime period beating the Boilermakers 12-6, and ending the game with a 58-52 win.

No. 1

The Indians’ best game and most intriguing game of the year was on Jan. 26 against the Neuqua Valley Wildcats.  Minooka won the first three quarters of the game but allowed Neuqua to come back in the fourth, outscoring the Indians 18-8.  This strong fourth quarter by the Wildcats forced the game to overtime where the Indians edged out Neuqua winning by a final score of 51-49.
