After a tight first half at Plainfield Central, the Minooka freshman boys basketball team started playing good defense.

Minooka beat the Wildcats 50-37 on Feb. 1.

“In the second half we started playing smart basketball, hitting shots and playing good defense,” freshman coach Trinity Saelens said.

A change in demeanor helped get things going.

“Our intensity was up on the bench, and we started playing good defense,” said freshman Ivan Dahlberg.

But it was the buckets that put them on top.

“We started knocking down shots in the second half,” said freshman Trevor Hudak.
