Today the Minooka wrestling team travels up to Hinsdale Central to participate in a two-day tournament that’s sure to be a challenge for the Indians.

Minooka will be facing off against some highly ranked teams in this tournament, and they are ready to take the challenge.

Some of the teams that the 11th-ranked Indians will face off against include 2nd -ranked Lemont, 4th-ranked Oak Park-River Forest, 6th-ranked DeKalb, and 12th-ranked Sandburg.

When asked about his expectations, head coach Bernie Ruettiger said, “My expectations have and always will be to be the best in the state of Illinois.”

The team will have a chance to prove themselves as that this weekend.

Some wrestlers to watch out for from Minooka are Drew Gutknecht, Alec Dufour, and Nathan Berta.

The Indians will be missing a few wrestlers as they have been plagued by injuries recently, including Noah Boles, Austin Markee and Jake Mensik.

“I really wish I could wrestle because this is one of the biggest and toughest tournaments in the state and of the year,” said Boles.

The Indians are currently 12-4. The tournament begins today at Hinsdale Central at 4:30 p.m.
