Minooka had athletes advance to the IHSA State Finals in two sports over the weekend.  Here’s a short recap.

 

Thursday, Feb. 8

Girls Basketball: Win over Plainfield East, 57-35, on Senior Night to end the regular season.  Minooka faces the winner of Plainfield South and Romeoville in a regional semifinal game at Plainfield South on Feb. 13.

 

Friday, Feb. 9

Boys Basketball: Game against Joliet Central postponed due to weather. Rescheduled to Feb. 22 at 6:30 p.m.

 

Saturday, Feb. 10

Girls Bowling: Finished 2nd to Lincoln-Way West (6,016-5,995) in the Lasalle-Peru Sectional. Team advances to the IHSA State Finals on Feb. 16 at The Cherry Bowl in Rockford.  Junior Gina Russell had the top score for Minooka at 1,262.

Wrestling: At the Alton Sectional, Noah Boles (145) finished 4th, and Drew Gutknecht (195) finished 3rd.  Both advance to the individual IHSA State Finals at the Assembly Hall in Champaign beginning on Feb. 15.  Minooka faces Lockport in dual team sectionals on Feb. 20.

Girls Track: Finished 2nd to host school (110.25-97) at Wheaton Warrenville South Indoor Invitational.  Five teams competed.  It was their first meet of the season.
